NBA 2K is a good game. The problems that require fixing are minor. All of the improvements suggested will make the game better as it is. 2K is a solid starting point but the game could benefit from some enhancements.

Classic Teams - Player Likenesses are part of 2K MT PS4 2K since the year 2011. There were some issues with classic teams, licensing of player likenesses remains a significant issue. If a player is retired, NBA 2K needs to pay an amount each year to allow their likeness in the game. Many players are willing to let their likeness in the game. In the majority of cases, 2K has not come to satisfactory financial terms with the player in question. This means classic teams are usually insufficient and do not possess all of the components that make a team unique.

The Seven Seconds and Fewer Suns are the best examples of incompatibility. Joe Johnson is not part of that squad. Johnson was critical scoring option for Phoenix and averaged 17.1 points per game in the Suns. Johnson's absence means it is difficult to pick the Suns in online competitive games. Charles Barkley's effort was not enough to bring the Phoenix Suns to the 1993 NBA Finals. That team was excellent and included Charles Barkley in the prime of his career. The '93 Suns aren't in the game at all because 2K isn't willing to pay Barkley's asking.

2K Sports need to come to financial terms with retired players and incorporate their names in the game. The classic teams and permit 2K Sports to add new excellent units into the game. The list of excluded players is long, but there are some notable players who are on the list: Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Rasheed Wallace, Metta World Peace and Lamar Odom.
